IVF microscope imaging system research. Research being carried out on an innovative microscope imaging system for IVF (in-vitro fertilisation) clinics. The aim is to improve identification of viable eggs, embryos and sperm, increasing conception rates and reducing the need for repeat cycles of IVF treatment. The two imaging techniques used are coherent Raman microscopy (CRM) and two-photon fluorescence (TPF). The lead scientist (speaking here) is biospectroscopy researcher Sumeet Mahajan, who is Professor of Molecular BioPhotonics and Imaging at the Institute for Life Sciences at the University of Southampton, UK. This research project, titled 'Engineering Novel Imaging Technologies for Reproductive Health: Transforming IVF Outcomes', was announced in 2018. | |
