This video focuses in on the lobes of the breast (highlighted first), and zooms into singular lobule (highlighted second). Each lobule is made up of clumps of cells called mammary acini. A cross-section of an acinus is then shown, exhibiting a lining of mammary gland cells (highlighted third). Breast milk (shown in the cross-section as yellow spheres) is initially produced in the mammary gland cells, and then seeps through to the acinus. The acini are made to expand when milk production is necessary. Milk (lactiferous) ducts (highlighted fourth) connect all of these structures and carry milk from acini, to lobules, to lobes, and finally to the nipple. | |
