Box jellyfish (Cubozoa) escaping the stinging tentacles of a large sea anemone (Actiniaria). Both of these animals are cnidarians, and are armed with stinging tentacles used to incapacitate prey. Box jellyfish are relatives of true jellyfish, but unlike true jellyfish they have complex eyes and are active swimmers, avoiding obstacles and chasing after prey. Sea anemones are sessile, resting on rocks and corals and catching animals that drift too close. Filmed in the Gulf of Thailand, near Koh Pha Ngan Island. | |
