Sunset at CTIO observatory site. Time-lapse footage at sunset of the main site of the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory (CTIO) at Cerro Tololo in northern Chile. As the sunset glow fades from the sky, the stars become visible and moonlight shines on the observatory buildings on the summit of the mountain. In the background, fog and clouds are seen in mountain valleys, with the Pacific in the far distance. The CTIO sites are operated by the National Optical Astronomy Observatory (NOAO). The Cerro Tololo site is at an altitude of 2207 metres. This footage was filmed in April 2016, from the secondary CTIO site at Cerro Pachon (2715 metres).
