| Involuting infantile haemangioma on the neck of a three year old Hispanic female patient. Haemangiomas (also called strawberry naevus) are benign (non-cancerous) tumours arising from the endothelial cells that line blood vessels. They are characterised by an increased number of normal or abnormal vessels filled with blood. Infantile haemangiomas are one of the most common benign tumours of infancy. They may be present at birth, or appear shortly after. Treatment is not normally necessary as most infantile haemangiomas shrink (involute) or disappear completely with time. | |
