The Cheesewring, part of a granite tor at Stowe's Hill, Bodmin Moor, Cornwall, UK, is named after its resemblance to a cheese press. Erosion and weathering has created this stack of tiers or pillows. They are very prone to frost damage. In the 1860s , when quarry blasting endangered the precarious stack, stones were added to support the column but they don't actually touch it. Although the quarry is abandoned now the support remains. Cheesewring is 8 metres high. | |
