Tin melting, 2 of 3. A crucible with tin metal (Sn) shot is heated over a Bunsen burner flame. When temperature reaches tin's melting point (231.9C), solid metal turns into a liquid. Heating also leads to a film of tin dioxide (SnO2) forming on the surface, the film can be moved aside to reveal fresh melted metal. | |
