Barred spiral galaxy NGC 1022, Hubble Space Telescope image. This galaxy is located in the constellation Cetus, 66 million light years away from Earth. The centre of the galaxy has a bar of stars with swirling arms emerging from its ends. This galaxy was observed by Hubble in order to study black holes and to research whether there is a link between the size of a black hole and the properties of a galaxy. | |
