Described in 2016, Knaack's Corydoras (Corydoras knaacki) ranges through swamps in the vicinity of the town of Santa Rita, draining into the R??o Inambari of the Madre de Dios Basin, Peru. Corydoras are a diverse group of catfishes from South America there are over 160 described species and descriptions of new species are still common. Many species do well in aquariums and the export of these fishes is an important revenue stream for small communities along the Amazon. This individual was photographed in the Peruvian Amazon in 2018. | |
