Asian bush mosquito (Aedes japonicus) feeding on human blood. The Asian bush mosquito is native to Eastern Asia, but has spread to Europe and North and South America. This mosquito is a specimen of the Notre Dame colony, which was established from specimens collected in South Bend, Indiana, USA, in the summer of 2005. The Asian bush mosquito is suspected of being a vector of Japanese Encephalitis virus in Asia and West Nile virus in the US. | |
