Devincenzia or terror bird. Computer illustration and photo-reconstruction of the extinct giant flightless bird Devincenzia. Devincenzia is an extinct genus of giant flightless predatory birds in the family Phorusrhacidae or terror birds that lived during the Early and Late Miocene to Early Pliocene of Argentina. The type species D. pozzi was formerly known as Onactornis pozzi. A second species D. gallinali has been described. Devincenzia would have had a greater reliance upon speed and agility while hunting. Devincenzia might even be larger than the increasingly famous Kelenken in terms of size. It stood about 2.5 meters tall. | |
