Fossil of Claudiosaurus germaini, an extinct genus of reptile that lived during the Permian period, about 260 to 280 million years ago. It is supposed to have lived mainly in marine waters, in a way much similar to the modern marine iguana. In this specimen from the Sankamena Formation near Ranohira, Madagascar, all parts of the animal's skull, limbs and skeleton are well preserved. Stretched out its length would come close to one meter. | |
