Roman carving of the Ancient British goddess Sul at Bath, England. Sul, or Sulis, was the goddess of healing waters, and had a shrine at the thermal springs at Bath. The Romans identified Sul with their goddess Minerva, and built a temple, the temple of Sulis Minerva on the site of the spring. The Roman name for Bath was Aquae Sulis (waters of Sulis). | |
