Egyptian mortuary temple carving. Religious scene depicted on the walls of the second courtyard of the mortuary temple of Rameses III at Medinet Habu. This temple is located on the West Bank of the River Nile, near Luxor, Egypt. It dates from the 12th century BC, during the New Kingdom period of Ancient Egypt. This carving shows the pharaoh Rameses III (left) making an offering to the falcon-headed god Seker (also called Sokar), who here is wearing the Atef, the feathered white crown usually associated with the ancient Egyptian god Osiris, and wielding the was-sceptre in one hand and the key-of-life (ankh) in the other hand. | |
