Indian pink, Spigelia marilandica, is an attractive native perennial occurring in moist woodlands throughout much of the southeastern US. It makes an excellent garden plant, requiring only partly shady conditions in sandy, organically rich soil. Also called worm grass and woodland pinkroot. It has several medicinal properties and is said to be an effective antiworming agent. Photo McCurtain Co., AR. | |
