The Double Horned Golden Line Barbel, Sinocyclocheilus bicornutus, is endemic to a small area of Guizhou, China. It was not described by science until 1997. This species grows to a length of roughly 7 inches. Sexually mature adults develop hard conical spines on their forehead and face; the function of the spines is not yet understood. The locality where the first individuals were discovered is a large cave with regular colonies of bats living in it. This individual was photographed in China, 2014. | |
