Branch retinal artery occlusion (BRAO) caused by a hollenhorst plaque. The plaque is a cholesterol embolus that has lodged at the branch of an artery slowing blood flow and causing Ischemia. The condition is also affecting the venous blood return in corresponding vessels. The wrinkled appearance of the fovea is due to the beginnings of an epiretinal membrane. Photographed 5 minutes past the point of injection. Image 5 of 5. | |
