Henry Edward Schunck (1820-1903), British chemist. Schunck studied at Manchester and Berlin, receiving his doctorate from the University of Giessen. He worked on purple dyes obtained from lichen, the dye madder, and indigo dye. Schunck was awarded the Davy Medal of the Royal Society in 1899 'for his researches on madder, indigo, and chlorophyll'. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1850. | |
