Rope tornado. Rope out of a strong tornado in southeast Montana, USA. Tornadoes in the dissipating stage can resemble narrow tubes or ropes. At this point, they are said to be 'roping out' and the length of their funnel increases, forcing the winds within the funnel to weaken. Multiple-vortex tornadoes can appear as a family of swirls circling a common centre. Photographed in June 2018. | |
