Water being pumped from a fire hydrant in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA, to connect it to the water supply in Parchment after high concentrations of PFAS (perfluorinated alkylated substances) were found in Parchment's drinking water. PFAS is a family of chemicals widely used in firefighting foam, waterproofing for clothing, and many other products. Exposure has been linked to a variety of serious diseases. PFAS levels were found to be twenty times higher than what is considered safe. Photographed in Parchment, Michigan, USA, in July 2018.
