Gray bamboo lemurs (Hapalemur griseus), also known as Gray gentle lemurs or eastern lesser bamboo lemurs reaching for branches of a bamboo plant. All lemurs are endemic to Madagascar, where they evolved in isolation from other primates after Madagascar became geographically isolated from Africa. Many lemur species are becoming increasingly rare due to habitat destruction. This one is also known as the eastern lesser bamboo lemur. It feeds mostly on bamboo. Photographed at Vakona Lodge, in the Anamalazoatra Reserve, Madagascar. | |
