Ceres. Satellite image showing the surface of the dwarf planet Ceres. Ceres is the largest object in the asteroid belt, which lies between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. The large crater near the horizon is around 35 kilometres in diameter and the midsize crater in the foreground is located about 120 kilometres from the large crater. This rough landscape suggests these features are on top of ancient terrains. Imaged by the Framing Camera on NASA's Dawn space probe. | |
