Envisat was an Earth-observing satellite designed continue the ERS (European Remote Sensing) missions, which began with the ERS-1 and ERS-2 satellites. Operated by the European Space Agency (ESA), Envisat provided additional observational parameters to improve environmental studies. It was launched on 1 March 2002 and contact was lost on 8 April 2012. It is still in orbit. | |
