An observer watches an incredible display of the northern lights or Aurora Borealis over the Brookes Range in Alaska. The Aurora Borealis is a natural light display that is visible in the night sky at higher latitudes. Occuring when charged particles from the Sun are carried on the solar wind drawn by Earth's magnetic field towards the polar regions. Hundreds of kilometres up, they collide with gas molecules and atoms, causing the incredible light shows seen from Earth. | |
