Paphos Archaeological Park. View over a mosaic floor in the House of Theseus, Paphos Archaeological Park, Cyprus. The Paphos Archaeological Park contains the major part of the important ancient Greek and Roman City of Paphos (Pafos). The House of Theseus is an exceptionally large villa that was the residence of the Roman proconsul (governor). It was built in the 2nd half of the 2nd Century AD over ruins of earlier houses and was occupied until the 7th Century AD. This immaculately preserved mosaic dates to between the 3rd and 4th Century BC and depicts the legend of Theseus and the Minotaur, giving the house its name. | |
