Visitors observing Kilauea eruption of May 1924. This eruption and associated ash plume is being viewed from the Volcano House Hotel of the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO). The visitors were warned subsequently by Roy H. Finch, in charge of the observatory, that it was unwise to remain there. Kilauea is the most active of the volcanoes on Hawaii. Photographed by Tai Sing Loo at around 09:20 local time on 24 May 1924, and entered in the HVO Record Book. | |
