Apollo 12 mission training. Two members of the Apollo 12 lunar landing mission training for lunar surface extravehicular activity (EVA). US astronauts Charles 'Pete' Conrad (left), mission commander, and Alan Bean, lunar module pilot, are practising photographing lunar rock samples. Apollo 12 took place from 14-24 November 1969. It was the second manned mission to land on the Moon, with Conrad and Bean descending to the lunar surface on 19 November 1969. The third crew member, Richard Gordon, remained in lunar orbit in the command module. Conrad and Bean made two excursions on the surface for a total of 7 hours 45 minutes.
