Veined octopus (Amphioctopus marginatus) with rubbish collected on the sea bed. The veined, or coconut, octopus often buries itself in sand or mud but will use any available debris (such as this discarded crisp packet) as a shelter. It is well-known for hiding in large shells, particularly discarded coconut shells. When on the move it takes its shelter with it. Photographed in Ambon, Indonesia. | |
