William McDougall (1871-1938), British psychologist. McDougall worked on theories of social psychology and instinct. He was appointed professor of psychology at Harvard in 1920, moving seven years later to Duke University where he worked on parapsychology. He wrote a large number of textbooks, including 'Physiological Psychology' (1905) and 'The Riddle of Life' (1938). Photograph published in 'Psychological Review' in 1939. | |
