Antares star. Optical image of the red supergiant star Antares. Antares (of Alpha Scorpii) lies around 550 light-years from the Sun. It is among the largest of known stars and the brightest star in the constellation of Scorpius. This is the most detailed image ever produced of this object or any other star apart from the Sun.
