Prehistoric bone ruler, discovered in Malta. Thin rectangular object of bone with the longer sides decorated with a series of short parallel incisions on the upper surface. This object has two large holes near its extremities, and it could have been used as a measuring instrument like a ruler. This artefact was found at the Hagar Qim site, which dates to the period 3600-3200 BC. Photographed at the National Museum of Archaeology in Valletta, Malta. | |
