Mnajdra temple visitor. Tourist viewing the Mnajdra temple ruins under the protective structure built to protect the prehistoric site. These temples are on the island of Malta. The artificial structure was built to cover the temples to protect against wind, rain and the ultraviolet rays in sunlight, all of which are damaging them. The ruins of the Mnajdra temples date from the 4th millennium BC. The Mnajdra temples were added to the UNESCO World Heritage Site listing for Malta's megalithic temples in 1992. Photographed in 2009. | |
