George Henry Falkiner Nuttall (1862-1937), US-British bacteriologist, standing in collegiate robe. Nuttall studied parasites and insect and other arthropod carriers of diseases, including mosquitoes and ticks. He also studied bacterial diseases such as gangrene caused by Clostridium perfringens. He founded and edited the 'Journal of Hygiene' (1901) and 'Parasitology' (1908). From 1906, he was Quick Professor of Biology at Cambridge University. His works included 'Blood Immunity and Blood Relationship' (1904) and 'The Training and Status of Public Health Officers in the United Kingdom' (1913).
