Winifred May de Kok and her children. South African-born writer and broadcaster Winifred May de Kok (1893-1969) had attended medical school in England during the 1920s and was in medical practice until 1953, when she became a television broadcaster. She covered family life and health on her BBC programme 'Tell Me, Doctor'. She was the author of 'Guiding Your Child through the Formative Years' (1935, Emerson Books), as well as many popular books: 'New Babes for Old' (1932) and 'Your Baby and You' (1957). De Kok was married to short story writer Alfred Edgar Coppard, and is shown here with their two children. Photographed in February 1935. | |
