Texas Longhorn cattle at a hay feeder, eating hay. The Texas Longhorn is a beef cattle breed of the domestic cow (Bos taurus). The breed originated naturally from Spanish and English cattle brought to Mexico and the southern US from 1500-1700. It nearly went extinct in the US in the 1960s, but has since recovered, with breeding programs bringing numbers up from 1500 to over 200, 000. Photographed in January, on a farm in Dry Ridge, Kentucky, USA. | |
