Stent in aortic aneurysm. Coloured computed tomography (CT) angiograms of oblique views of the aorta (main body artery) of a 70-year-old man with aortic aneurysms. An aneurysm is a swelling of the artery wall, and can be fatal if it ruptures. A stent (metal mesh, bright area at top in both images) has been implanted on the upper part of the descending aorta after surgery on an aneurysm at this location. This patient also has an aneurysm of the sub-renal (below kidney) part of the aorta, and atheroma deposits (bright spots) in that location and on the arteries leading to the legs (the iliac arteries). | |
