This artery is just above the heart, with the aortic arch at bottom centre. This patient has arterial hypertension (high blood pressure) and hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol levels). Atheroma plaques occur in conditions such as atherosclerosis, where the arteries harden and narrow. This can lead to strokes and heart attacks.
