Scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of Pseudomonas putida, Gram-negative, aerobic, enteric, rod prokaryote. Pseudomonas putida is a ubiquitous soil bacterium. Strains of P. putida have the ability to degrade organic solvents or hydrocarbons. This strain was isolated from a soil environment that had high levels of caffeine. It is known to biodegrade caffeine. Thus different strains of Pseudomonas putida can be used for bioremediation. Magnification: x1, 600 when shortest axis printed at 25 millimetres. | |
