Nikola Tesla's childhood home. Historical image of the house of the Teslas in the town of Gospic in what was then the Austrian Empire and is today in Croatia. This house was the childhood home (from 1862 to 1870) of Serb-US physicist and electrical engineer Nikola Tesla (1856-1943). Nikola Tesla attended school next door to the house. In 1884 Nikola Tesla emigrated to the USA where he made key advances in areas such as alternating current power generation and transmission. A type of transformer is named for him (the Tesla Coil), as is the SI unit of magnetic flux density. | |
