Porcelain crab on an anemone. Neopetrolisthes porcelain crab on its host anemone. This crab can walk through the anemone's poisonous tentacles without being stung. This gives it protection from predators and allows it to forage for scraps of food. In return, the sea anemone receives particles of food as the crab eats. This mutually advantageous relationship is an example of a type of symbiosis. Photographed in Bunaken National Park, off Sulawesi, Indonesia. | |
