Mesozoic landscape and dinosaurs. Illustration of a Mesozoic floodplain with dinosaurs whose fossils are found in the Wealden rocks. These include: Iguanodon, Hypsilophodon, Neovenator, and Baryonyx. Iguanodon and Hypsilophodon were herbivorous ornithopod dinosaurs, with Iguanodon the larger dinosaur, with a herd wading through the water. The smaller Hypsilophodon dinosaurs are running around at lower right. Neovenator (upper right) was a large carnivorous predator, an example of an allosaurid dinosaur. At upper left is an example of Baryonyx, a fish-eating theropod dinosaur. The Mesozoic Era lasted from 252 to 66 million years ago. | |
