Agriotherium. Illustration of Agriotherium, an ancient African bear, searching for prey. Agriotherium is an extinct genus of Ursidae of the Miocene through Pleistocene epochs, living from about 13.6-2.5 Mya in North America, Europe, Africa and Asia. Agriotherium measured about 2.7 metres in length, making it larger than most living bears. It had dog-like crushing teeth. With a body mass greater than most large ungulates it is probable that Agrotherium could have preyed on these animals. | |
