Glucose monitoring kit with subcutaneous sensor. Close-up of a 73-year-old male patient using a subcutaneous glucose monitoring kit. This system uses a tiny disposable glucose sensor, about the thickness of a hair, inserted under the skin and connected to a small transmitter patch (white) stuck to the skin surface. The sensor reads glucose levels from interstitial fluid just beneath the skin. It records the glucose levels and trends and wirelessly transmits the readings to a display on a reader (black) held near the sensor. | |
