Phosphorescent light photograph of Tesla. Inscribed photograph of Serb-US physicist and electrical engineer Nikola Tesla (1856-1943), with the inscription explaining that this was the 'first portrait made by phosphorescent light', and that this was one of the first four prints. The location is named as Tesla's laboratory at 35 South Fifth Avenue, New York, USA. Tesla emigrated to the USA in 1884, where he produced many inventions. His research led to key advances in areas such as alternating current power generation and transmission. A type of transformer is named for him (the Tesla Coil), as is the SI unit of magnetic flux density. | |
