SPECT computed tomography scanning. Computed tomography (CT) scanner being used to scan a patient in the radiology department of a hospital. The patient is being passed through the central hole of the scanner during the scanning process. This is a SPECT (single-photon emission computed tomography) scanner. Computed tomography is an X-ray scanning technique that scans the body at different angles and combines the scans to produce 3D and cross-sectional images of the body. SPECT is CT scanning combined with the use of a radioactive tracer. This SPECT scanner is part of the Symbia range produced by the Siemens company. Photographed in the UK. | |
