Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of Mammal or false human flea (Pulex simulans). This flea, often called the false human flea, is commonly found on dogs and cats and other canid mammals. It often coexists with the human flea, Pulex irritans. The bites of human fleas are irritating, but, unlike other species of flea, they are not responsible for the transmission of disease. Practically all warm-blooded animals are fed upon by fleas. Magnification: x6 when shortest axis printed at 25 millimetres. | |
