David Buell Lackman (1911-1990), US bacteriologist, at work in his laboratory. Lackman is using a blood gas apparatus (left) and lamp (right) with power supply. This work is part of his work on the antigenic structure of Rickettsia bacteria by physical and chemical means. Lackman spent most of his career working at the Rocky Mountain Laboratory, Hamilton, Montana, USA, starting in 1946. His research centred on encephalitis and other diseases caused by arboviruses.
