AEGIS experiment at CERN. Equipment used in the AEGIS experiment at CERN, the European particle physics laboratory. AEGIS (Antihydrogen Experiment Gravity Interferometry Spectroscopy) is an experiment involving the Antiproton Decelerator (AD). It is designed to determine if gravity affects antimatter in the same way it affects matter. It uses antihydrogen produced by mixing positrons with antiprotons from the Antiproton Decelerator. At CERN, particles are accelerated and collided at high speeds, producing new particles that are examined with large detectors. Many of the key discoveries in particle physics have been made at CERN.
