Diggers removing flood debris, Glenridding, UK. On 5th December 2015, Storm despond crashed into the UK, producing the UK's highest ever 24 hour rainfall total at 341.4mm. It flooded the Lakeland village of Glenridding, which was just starting to repair when another period of heavy rain on 9th December caused the Glenridding Beck to burst its banks, causing yet further destruction. This photograph was taken on the morning of 10th December as diggers tried to clear flood debris from the river. | |
