SpaceX's Crew Dragon launch abort test. SuperDraco engines powering SpaceX's Crew Dragon spacecraft during a launch abort test flight on 6 May 2015. After half a second of vertical flight, Crew Dragon pitched toward the ocean and continued its controlled burn. The SuperDraco engines throttled to control the trajectory based on real-time measurements from the sensors. This first launch abort test flight took place successfully from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40), Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA. The first crewed missions in Crew Dragon are scheduled for 2017. SpaceX (Space Exploration Technologies) is a private US aerospace and space transport services company. It was founded in 2002 and has developed the Falcon rockets and the Dragon spacecraft. Future plans include crewed flights to Mars. | |
